Clean & Deseed a Pumpkin

   Gather Tools

   Collect a sturdy knife, a large spoon or ice cream scoop, a bowl for seeds, and a clean workspace.

   Cut Open Top

   Using a sturdy knife, carefully cut a circular lid around the stem, angling inwards to create a stable opening.

   Remove Guts

   Use a large spoon or scoop to scrape out all stringy pulp and loose seeds from the pumpkin interior.

   Deseed & Rinse

   Place the pulp and seeds in a bowl of water, then separate the seeds from the stringy bits by hand and rinse them clean.

   Scrape Walls Clean

   Use your spoon or scoop to thoroughly scrape the inside walls of the pumpkin until smooth and free of all remaining pulp.

   Wipe Dry

   Use a paper towel to wipe the inside of the pumpkin completely dry, preparing it for carving or cooking.
